Self-care during quarantine is a necessity. Mama, your mental health has to be prioritized! Here's a list of healthy coping skills I've learned during the last few years of fighting for my mental health. If you're feeling lonely or depressed, these tips might help you make it through the bad days. Putting on shoes, cleaning for 10 minutes every night, and indulging in crafts is nice, but you can also throw pity parties and give in to the bad days every once in a while. #selfcare #mentalhealth

If you had told me a month ago that I’d be spending my days on Zoom calls and laughing at Tiger King memes, I’m not sure I would have believed you. And yet, here we are…

I’m on day 9,739 of life in quarantine – at least, that’s what it feels like some days.

Actually, today marks my family’s 28th day in self-imposed isolation from the outside world, aside from a handful of errands or my husband’s pre-furloughed work shifts.

I always knew that having kids would be life-changing, but I didn’t realize I would become a completely new person postpartum. 

I understood (or thought I understood) that taking care of a new baby would involve learning new things, but to my surprise, caring for my new self was almost more difficult than caring for my baby. Almost.

At some point during my pregnancy, my doctor brought up the possibility of postpartum depression.

Even though I had only experienced depression a few times in my youth, my doctor wanted me to be aware that my past meant a higher risk of PPD.

Growing up, having kids was one of those things I never gave much thought to.

My world completely changed when I found out I was pregnant.
